AGREEMENT FOR SPONSORED VOLUNTARY SERVICES

I desire to make available volunteer services to assist the U. S. Forest Service through partnership with the Indian Peaks Wilderness Alliance Wilderness Volunteers.

Description of work involved: To assist in managing and protecting Wilderness and backcountry areas on the Boulder & Sulphur Ranger Districts.  Duties include the following: Make public contacts in order to provide information about the Wilderness, the area, regulations, the LNT principles, wilderness management, philosophy, and related topics; and collect visitor & resource data.

Responsibilities include the following: While on duty, identify yourself by wearing appropriate IPWA uniform components; conduct all activities in a safe, courteous, and friendly and professional manner; exercise good judgment in dealing with the hazards of the high country wilderness environment and take no unnecessary risks; limit all contacts to daylight hours only.

The Wilderness Volunteers will not attempt to conduct any law enforcement related activities.  Wilderness Volunteers may do additional hikes beyond their scheduled hikes, provided they first call or e-mail IPWA Volunteer Coordinator or the Wilderness Manager with the U.S. Forest Service, Boulder Ranger District, prior to the hike.  Leaving a message on their answering machine is acceptable.

I understand that, while volunteering for the U. S. Forest Service, we must follow applicable U.S. Forest Service safety regulations.

This agreement covers the time period for the day after the annual IPWA Training through the day prior to rifle hunting season in Colorado this year (usually the 2nd week in October).

The full text of the above affidavit, USDA – Forest Service FS-1800-8 (3/98) Act of May 18, 1972, P.L. 92-300, as amended can be viewed in its entirety at the Boulder Ranger District or the corporate office of the Indian Peaks Wilderness Alliance.  Terms of acceptance and responsibilities of the U.S. Forest Service were agreed upon by the Boulder District Ranger.

I, (print full name)________________________ agree to the terms and conditions cited above.
